Description
This pendant has a typical style of a bell shaped pendant produced by the Adena Culture throughout Ohio. Pendants were proudly worn by the ancient owner likely as a symbol of status or possibly as a spiritual token to keep them safe and give them luck when hunting or fishing, and when traveling on foot or by canoe.
This beautiful pendant exhibits high artistry and craftsmanship. The ancient creators spent many hours carefully pecking this beautiful banded slate into shape then finely polishing the stone down to a smooth glossy finish. The hole is biconically drilled using a flint drill bit and a bow drill. This pendant is anciently broken.
